Unit 2 Journey On

Happy day!  Welcome to my journey through my class Creating Wellness: Psychological and Spiritual Aspects of Healing.  I hope that anyone following my blog will benefit from my experience with me.

I have learned over the last year of attending school that I can be in control of my future.  I felt like I was in control before, but honestly I was not.  I had so many demands on my life, I just went from one responsibility to another.  I have learned to say no and stand up for myself and I survived.  I am thankful that I have had the professors that I have had throughout this experience and the support of my husband and daughter.

I did appreciate the relaxation exercise and have not been exposed to one quite like that before.  At first I could not stop yawning and the area I selected to lay down in was a bit cold, I should have gotten a blanket.  I was skeptical in the beginning because of the yawning, but by the end I was able to feel revived as it suggested.  I also selected to have those thoughts of being revived rather than giving into my fatigue of being awake since 2:00 a.m. this morning.  This is one that I would have to practice a great deal to feel any increase in body temperature, I am always very cold.  With practice I could be more successful with this type relaxation.

Have a lovely day!

  1. Candii,

I love your site. It's beautiful. Relaxation techniques are great but really works for me is listening to SPA and looking out to my backyard. I am recharged by being outside - especially in the winter. The quiet and stillness of freshly fallen snow has a way of putting life in perspective.

  2. Laurie,

I love being outside too. I have an app on my phone called Rela Melodies. I use it all thet time. The other app that I use a lot is Relax & Sleep Well.

    Thanks, Candii

  3. I was able to relax my breathing, but not relax in the way the speaker described in our relaxation exercise. As a matter of fact my fingers and toes got cold and I wasn't in a cold area of the house – so obviously I wasn't doing it properly. I didn't find the speakers voice to be annoying or anything, but the music at the beginning and the end I didn't care for and it made me feel more on edge. The music in the middle was relaxing however.

I started Kaplan a year ago as well and I still feel like I am running from one thing to another. I hope that once I receive my degree I will be able to change careers and drop some of the extra responsibility I seem to have all the time.

If you end up blogging late at night or early in the morning I will more often than not be up with you since I work third shift at my full-time job.

I have to agree with Laurie as well, I love the template you used for your site, it’s very pretty.

    1. Thank you Sandy! Working third shift is difficult. I work all over the clock. I at least can control it most of the time not to have a late night role into a early report the next day. Right now the variety works for me to stay sane. I did work a full-time position until May of 2012.

Keep going, it will all be worth it in the end.

  4. Candii,

I am loving your page! It is beautiful from the background to your writing. It calms me just to read it. Gratitude is an amazing this and I am happy to see you have a lot of it. I also felt rejuvenated after the 15 minutes of relaxing. I almost fell asleep but I finished in a good place.
Great work. I look forward to reading more of your posts.

  5. Yeah if you can just sleep through the night it sounds like you will have it all covered. My children usually do not wake me at night, thank goodness they are older now and not babies, but occasional they had a bad dream and end up in my bed. I usually sleep good but just don't get enough since my only quiet time is after kids go to bed, so that's home work time! Hope your cat lets you sleep!

  6. Hi Dani,

By the fourth or fifth night in a row I am usually so tired that the first time she tries to wake me up I don't hear her and my husband actually gets up. The rest of the time, I think I am just programmed now to respond to her. I just keep saying, I love my cat, I love my cat.

When our daughter was 4 she would have night terrors and I was so tired from my days I never heard her. My husband was they one who got up with her for about a two year stretch, maybe it is my turn, lol. Have a wonderful week, Candii
