Unit 5 - Subtle Mind vs. Loving Kindness

I did have a harder time with the Subtle mind exercise than I did the Loving Kindness.  It very well could have had to do with the fact that the Loving Kindness exercise kept my mind active and the subtle mind exercise really required me to work on keeping my mind clear.  My thoughts are that the subtle mind exercise should be accomplished once someone is very practiced at this activity and the loving kindness activity could be performed and perfected leading a person to the position or standing of the level that I felt the subtle exercise takes.

Physical wellness encompasses a routine expenditure of calories, nutritionally sound dietary intake and reduction of bad habits.  Mental wellness is the ability to open our minds to new possibilities, connections to people, coping with challenges that we are faced with on a daily bases.  Spiritual wellness helps to bring peace and harmony to all areas that binds or connects the mental, physical and spiritual all together.

I think the biggest connection in my life is that I have been trying to bridge the three areas of mental, physical and spiritual daily.  I am not perfect.  I am working on it and hopefully will continue to make progress.   I feel that it has manifested in my life in the physical aspect, the mental and spiritual are a work in progress.  I am not going to stop.
Happy day, Candii

  1. Hello Candii. I had the opposite effect for the two exercises. The love and kindness exercise was easy for me but I found myself, at times, drifting away from my thoughts. With the subtle mind exercise I found it easier to focus and was able to concentrate. I was rocking in my rocking chair listening to the exercise so I focused on the rocking movement. Then I must have fallen asleep. I never had that happen to me before so I guess that is what you call relaxed:) I think these exercises are great and do take time. Hope you are having a great day.

    1. Hi Monica,

I am glad the evercise of subtle mind worked for you. I was probably 7 the last time I was able to drift off or be that relaxed. I know given time and reduced extra engergy I have been expending working more hours, I might be able to have this one work. I will wait until next week and try it again. I don't feel like I have been stress, just no time to spare. Thanks for your post, have a great week. Candii

    1. Hi David,

I was thinking about your mention of stress and it got me thinking tonight. I really have not felt stressed, just felt like I was scheduled and double booked the last several days. Thanks for mentioning what you did, it made me stop and process why the subtle mind exercise really did not work for me this past week.

      Have a lovely week, Candii

    1. Hi Robert,

Really until David mentioned stress I had not thought about it. I guess this last few days could have been preceived as stress, but I really have not been stressed. I will try the subtle mind exercises again next week when my work schedule has calmed down a bit. Maybe then it will work.

      Thanks for your post, Candii

  4. Great write up. This exercise does need a longer time to complete and room farther from people. I really find myself looking deep in to myself. I'm in a semi sleep state yet aware of my surroundings. And when I'm done a feel like a took a little nap.

    1. Good for you Scott! I am still trying to master that with the subtle mind exercise. I did great with the loving kindness activity, just not so great with this one. I will not let it go that easy, I will try again and again if needed.

Have a great rest of the week, Candii

  5. All spiritual healing is a restoration of harmony between you and our divine source, which becomes manifest as the self is constantly lifted up to the divine.
